Track and Field Eligibility

To participate in athletics a student must

    - Be enrolled as a student at LHS or be home schooled.

    - Be a student in good standing for the entire week. No significant discipline problems, and academically eligible.

    - Have on record in the school: a current physical, a signed power of attorney, Lakenheath Athletic
    Code, and parent consent form.

    - Not reached or passed his/her 19th birthday on September 1 of the current year. Students beyond their eighth semester of high school are ineligible to participate in interscholastic athletics.

Track and Field Tryouts

- Tryouts will last for a minimum of three days before cuts are made if any. This is to insure all athletes are given a fair chance of making the team. Coaches don't like making cuts but sometimes they have to especially when a lot of people try out for small teams like basketball.

Academic Eligibility

  • - Students must be passing all but one subject/class in which they are enrolled at the time grades are issued.

 

    - A student with an F can't be denied the opportunity to play in practice or competition.

    - An ineligible athlete can practice with the team but can't go anywhere or play in any games.

    - A GPA of 2.00 is required for participation. Those with a GPA lower than 2.00 can still practice but not participate in any games or travel with the team.

Quitting

 

If a student quits a sport at anytime after the first competition, he or she is not allowed to participate in another sport until the season of the sport dropped is over. If a student quits a team, and then later asks to be reinstated to the same, the decision will be a joint decision between the coach, the A.D., and the principal.
