AVID
AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) is an academic program begun in 1980 which provides the skills for students to be accepted into and succeed at a four-year college. To do this, students are required to take rigorous courses with support from the AVID teacher and tutors. To be eligible for the program, students must have a gpa between 2.0 and 3.5, have stanine scores between 5 and 7 on the Terra Nova tests, have teacher recommendations, and have no behavior or truancy referrals. An AVID slogan is "AVID isn't a feel good program, it's a do good program."
