On April 21, 2009, Lakenheath High School will have its AdvancED (NCA CASI or SACS CASI) Quality Assurance Review (QAR) visit is. The purpose of this visit is to evaluate the school's adherence to the standards; assess the effectiveness of the school's improvement efforts; review performance results and how those results are used to inform improvement efforts; provide high-quality feedback with clear recommendations and actionable next steps; and to make an accreditation recommendation.
LHS Receives Full Accreditation
April 21-23, Lakenheath HS hosted a team from AdvancED, the group that is
responsible for accrediting schools across the USA and DoDEA.
The team was made up of two stateside assessors and four DoDDS administrators
and one DoDDS teacher. The responsibility of the team is to assess the school
based on seven standards. More information is available on their website
(www.advanc-ed.org) or by emailing the link below. While they were here,
they had opportunities to talk to parents, military members, teachers,
staff and students. The team spent a lot of time in classrooms observing
what goes on here at LHS. They looked at our mission, our teaching, our
relationships and our commitment to making LHS the best it can be.
It was a long but very positive process and we learned many good things
from the team. At our outbriefing on Thursday, the team read us some
commendations and also shared some recommendations for future success.
Finally, they announced that Lakenheath High School received full accreditation
for the next five years. We are very proud of our quality assessment review
and the outcome.
